could someone please enlighten me on how to take off the crankshaft pulley on my ca18? it doesnt want to budge, everything i do just results in me turning the engine. im trying to replace my water pump and i cant get the lower timing belt cover off. is there a special tool or anything needed to do this? can i replace the water pump without having to take this off? i am new to the ca, and feel like ive been asking waaay too many questions, but i cant really help it(the fsm is really vague). thanks in advance! - tim

I know the feeling of trying to pull of that pulley with out the proper tools. Lube it up with some WD-40 or equivalent and get a steering wheel puller and it should work.

To undo the pulley bolt you can put a long breaker bar under the chassis leg and turn the engine over, that will undo the bolt, and to take the pully of you will need a three legged puller, you leave the bolt half in and wind up the puller against the bolt but be careful not to wind it up too much because you can chip the edges of the pulley.

Get some tension on the puller and tap the main bolt of the puller and the pulley should start to come off.

Have fun screwing with that! Taking those turbos off is a bee with an itch and putting them back on is worse. Especially that oil line.ooooooooooooooohhhhh
