I bought my 2012 g37x from a third party and I suspect there are some TSBs that have not been applied to the car. In fact it's probably never been checked for firmware updates.

From what I understand the dealership is the only place to receive these updates.

What would you estimate the cost to be strictly for TSB updates at a dealer?

The car is not under warranty so I'll be paying out of pocket.

Just curious what I might be looking at cost-wise.

Thanks for all your help!

Well, the cost would depend on what TSB is being addressed. Kinda hard for us to give you an estimate if you don't tell us what needs to be done.

First, don't just assume things haven't been addressed, unless you know the car's never been serviced at a dealership. Start by going to this site: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchSafetyIssues Then head over to the dealership and ask them to print out a list of things that may or may not have been worked on.

TSBs should not have a cost associated, in most cases.

If there's something wrong with the car that precludes performing the TSB, obviously, they'll point it out.

Contact the dealer, give them your VIN and have them check - you can compare that to what you find from the link above.

Welcome aboard!

Local Chicago Infiniti dealer quoted me $140 for checking all TSBs and uploading firmware and updates.

This sound reasonable?

Out of factory warranty means you're paying for the work performed unless there's some form of warranty extension involved.

TSB isn't the same as a recall - which is covered by the mfg.

However, them charging $140 just for service records sounds like BS.

Well, my vehicle is a rebuild (no Infiniti warranty at all), so I understand the cost.

My question is that I wonder if there's any way to determine if I even have any firmware upgrades available. Maybe that's the risk - I could be out $140 just for having them check.

If you were in my shoes, would you do it? Thanks!

Call Infiniti of Scottsdale (480) 941-0055. Ask for their service department.

Tell them you're a member of the forums and that you want to check to see if all recalls and TSBs have been completed on it. Give them the VIN.

Typically, service advisors are pretty accommodating.
