I have dealt with an overheating problem on my RB20 S13 for some time now. It only occurs on the freeway and I have covered all my bases as far as I know. Since replacing the lower radiator hose the car hasnt overheated, but there is one thing it does.

The coolant reservoir is higher after a drive than when I started. Is this normal or a sign that I am running too hot? I was under the impression that unless the radiator cap pops the coolant reservoir is sealed off from the rest of the system. Somehow my reservoir goes up after a drive and then back down as it cools off.

Is this normal? I never noticed it doing this with the old KA24E

Hmm according to this the level should rise when the car is up to temp.

Am I that dumb? I have never noticed it before.

perfectly normal. if it starts bubbling and spewing everywhere, then that is bad. A bad hose would hurt the cooling performance by allowing expansion, allowing temp to raise faster than pressure, lowering the boiling point. just make sure you have a good cap, t-stat, and hoses.
