Ok so I finally got my car back on the road and in the process of putting the "new" engine in I figured I'd replace the clutch and flywheel. So I read up on every post in the archives about clutch break in periods and I have a couple questions. I understand that you need to be gentle with it and pretty much grandma the hell out of it for the predetermined time by the manufacturer.

So I put in an F1 Racing stage 3 clutch and lightened flywheel (I know its an ebay product but I did my research and I feel confident in my choice). Anyways its a 6 puck ceramic clutch with an Exedy clutch cover and the manufacturer says I need to do a 750 mile break in period which is fine and expected.

My question is this I've read that you should not shift above 3K and you shouldn't go above 65 MPH is this true? I can deal with not hard shifting or beating the piss out of my new clutch until it's broken in but staying under 65 MPH is really hard considering I live in Philly and the urge to not get run over on I95 is really hard. I'm not looking to to go 100 MPH (much) but having a semi barrel down on me in the middle lane doing 80 while I'm sitting @ 65 is not a comfortable feeling.

I also read a mix review of if its a puck design clutch that you're supposed to beat on it to break it in and others say you should treat it as any other new clutch and gransma it for the break in period.

I just want to get the most life out of my clutch and flywheel considering it wasn't cheap and I don't want to replace it until I absolutely have to.

So any help would be appreciated.

I'd have to say keep the shifting under 3k but once its engaged unless its slipping I dont see why you have to drive only 65MPH... I'd think you'd be ok for 80MPH.

750 miles seems a bit long for a break in, but maybe they are thinking you'd be running more highway miles. Do more stop and go city driving to help break in faster.

Definately avoid burn outs and hard shifts, and yeild a lot coming out of gas stations, parking lots, etc. to avoid having to floor it cause that other car is coming at you fast.
