k im about to buy this 89 240sx..i use to drive a 91 auto that didnt have any feature's or ac, so im pretty excited about this verison having power windows/locks/ac. But it has some wierd mechanical things that i should attend to as soon as i make it my daily driver. 2 things..it trembles at idle..i can tell its set at a very low idle..like 300, whats the cause of this and is it a easy or hard fix..second it burns a lil oil when you first press the throttle when u first start to go.. the smoke is white and not thick black..and it only smokes when u r at low rpm's..doesnt smoke pass 1000 i believe..could be 1,500..the car is way more faster then mine..and he said the guy before him did some engine modifications..so guys when i get this car..how can i fix these things to make sure everything is good and dandy. BTW...the car runs good when u r driving it..just trembles at idle..smokes at low rpms when u first press the throttle when u r leaving the low rpms..and he also said its set at a low compression ready for turbo..the guy before him had it done

Go get the compression checked at a shop.I bet that fool was lying about that "set for low compression" crap. He sounds like he is covering for bad compression where your rings are bad.

Ditto on the compression test. It's only 4 cylinders and an easy thing to do. Plus, If you've got anytype of smoke what-so-ever, you should be reading the spark plugs. Are you able to get ahold of a repair manual so that you can read up on the idle adjustment? Some computers do it for you now, but just in case..... Nitro
