My Q has an Alpine HU with the Bose speakers, amps bypassed. Does this basically mean my HU is directly wired to 1.5 ohm speakers? Could this explain why at higher volumes it starts to cut out?

Thanks!

More than likely. If you can, take a look at the rear speakers and see how he wired things.

Swapping the speakers with some "quality" 4 ohm would make a big difference, though it may seem somewhat quieter.

I wired my wife's 89' Maxima like that back in 94' on all 4 speakers with a cheap Sony Head Unit... Didn't sound all that good to me, but it kept her mouth shut... :-)

I just changed the whole system because it bit the dust in Dec. I stuck in a Pioneer CD Reciever and Speakers, from Wal-Mart...A whole nuther world now...

If I were you, I'd dump that Bose stuff ASAP...It will sound alot better...I'm gonna do the same to my 94Q soon....I'm not going to bother re-wiring the Bose speakers...They're going in the crapper...
