Well, obviously a bigger bore will mean more air in the cylinders which in turn = more power. But, too big a bore will make the cylinder walls thinner, and weaker. I think if you have to bore it out, .020" is all thats really nessesary (<-spelling?).

one more question for ya? i have been reading the posts on ka24e motors and it doesnt seem like they have much to offer, can those motors be built up to run like a beast or is it a waste of time and money? Turbo's, Nitrous, is any of that worth puting on the motor?

The main difference between the SOHC and DOHC is just that. One has 4 more valves and 1 more cam. The SOHC is only a small 15hp less than a DOHC. You can get that back by removing some accesories. I.E. switching to an electric fan, removing a/c, underdrive pully, etc. Boring, in small incraments, will only get you a very minute (my-noot) amount of power. So small you will not be able to feel it. You can always boost it. N/A KA's most likely won't get above 200hp with bolt-on's and small things alone. You need to spend the big bucks to get more. Boosting is the way to go for KA's if your looking for easy 200+ hp. Plus, you will keep the torque (which the SR doesn't have), keep your car legal (in most states), and parts are readily available for both the motors and turbo parts. Even for the KA24E.visit this website if your looking into going turbo.http://www.jgstools.com/turbo/index2.html

Very true my friend.......and if I might add, the KA24E is a little cheaper and easier to work on when it comes to repairs and internals......

I'm seriously considering rebuilding mine this summer instead of going with the usual SR swap...

hel l yeah, you can get a running KA24E for under $200. Rebuild kits aren't expensive either. And to all the people who say "there is no point in using the 12valve motor" can yada yada yada. There is plenty to be gained from the KA. Maybe not N/A but it's there. Plus you can't not like the sound a turbo KA makes. I'm working on a "new" head I picked up for $150. And I'm going back for the block for another $50. KA-T here I come.
