Hi I am new here since I just bought a 02 Infi I35.I really love it but have some questions that I couldn't find answer from the manual.

1. I don't see doors locked automatically once the car starts to move or I pull the gear to D. Is this normal? the previous owner told me that it's been just like that and I checked the manual and didn't find it either. But my old 98 regal, 02 taurus, and 08 rav4 all lock doors automatically as I expected. I wondering if something wrong it

2. the analog clock looks elegant but I couldn't see it in the evening. does it have a light or bulb somewhere that I can turn on?

3. the 6-cd changer doesn't read CD anymore, from which I got 250 bulks discount. the previous owner said it is a common issue for 02 i35. anyone knows where I can get a used part? junk yard? I am in san jose, ca and its interior color is black.

thanks

Front door locks dont lock on maximas, at least not on mine. Although I think I can hear the rear child protection door locks click while I drive off. Your clocks backlight is probably broken, because I dont think there is a way to adjust it.

thanks a lot. So this means that the auto door lock is not provided by i35, right. Just don't understand why this near-luxury sedan doesn't have this basic safety feature.

btw, how to replace the broken backlight then?

Yes, you're right, the car just doesn't have that feature. So it's not a problem with the locks. Nissan, for whatever reason, didn't start adopting that feature until around 2007...any Nissan older than that won't have it. That's actually one of the most common questions I see asked (and that holds true across pretty much all Nissan/Infiniti models), so I'm not sure why it took them so long to get with the program.

And yes, the clock does have a backlight. Replacing it is actually not that bad. You need to remove the center vents and radio surround (it is simply held in place by metal spring clips, best way to remove them is to pry with a flathead screwdriver wrapped in cloth so you don't scratch anything). The hazard light button will come out with it Once those are removed you'll see two screws holding the panel that holds the clock. Remove those and you can get to the clock.

Here's a previous thread with some good diagrams showing clock access:zerothread/209915
