I had a quick question. About 2 months ago i overheated my sr very badly it sucks, but since then i have been working on it and have gotten lots of new parts . So i had my head decked and cleaned and used a Apexi 1.1mm metal headgasket with arp studs when putting everything back together, and i didn't do anything to the block but clean it off very well, so now it isn't sealing properly so i am gonna take it all down again and this time get the block decked also and go ahead and upgrade the bottom end while im at it. My question is do you think its safe to reuse the apexi 1.1 after running basically 10 mins? i just wanted a definitive answer before i try and get it all back together. Also after decking the head and block is the 1.1 ok to use or should i go ahead and get a 1.5 cosworth or something to compensate, any help would be great, Thanks very much.

My engine builder always told me never to reuse gaskets, its not worth having to take something apart again to replace a gasket...

Being a metal gasket, you can sometimes get an extra crush cycle out of them. But it's not a guarantee. I've heard of people getting 4 re-uses out of quality metal head gaskets, and then sometimes, only the initial install.

As far as the thickness goes, you need to talk to your machine shop about how much material was cut away to bring the block back to straight. The .4mm of thickness change is worth .25 C/R given that the rest of the block's dimensions haven't been touched (ie pistons, bore diameter, block/head mating surfaces)
