hi, this might be too general of a question and it might depend on what kind of coilovers you have but what can you adjust when it comes to a coilover. I believe that I have the Tien Super Street coilovers (came with the car) and I was reading up on some suspension basics. I know the main feature of a coilover is to adjust the ride high, which in turn changes the spring rate and lowers center of gravity. Than you could also lower or raise each independent coilover in order to shift around the center of gravity.

However, my main question is could you adjust the dampening force(shocks)? If so, how does that work in a coilover (same as an adjustable dampener)?

I know a coilover is just a shock and spring combo but so far the only thing i have heard was changing the ride height.

Thanks for any input,

Tomek

well to answer my own question I went to Tein's site. IF I do have the super street coilovers than yes there is a 16 way adjustable dampener. http://www.tein.com/ss1damp.html but looking at that coilover I do not think that those are the one's I have. I am going to have to take a picture and post it up and hopefully someone might be able to identify it.

you may have tein basics which i dont believe have adjustable dampening, and only can adjust height with preload

also the main function of coilovers is to have far stiffer spring rates while matching dampers for those rates, all while being able to adjust height without losing suspension travel

if you have basics you cant lower the car without sacrificing travel, theyre not a true coilover, basically a fancy spring/shock setup
