Question about AC electric fan conversion.

I just pulled my mechanical fan for a number of reasons and wired my AC electric fan to take it's place. Im wondering if it's powerful enough to maintain the temp. of my coolant? Also one of the reasons I wanted to do the conversion was to get a quicker time for the engine to heat up. If the fan is constantly on it doesnt help my scenario. Im looking for something like a thermostat for my fan so it will only turn on after a certain temp. Does anyone know if thats possible.
