do the jdm spec vh45's have the same timing chain guide problem in the early year models?

hmmmm well i took a closer look at the car today and its a 94 q45a yet the motor is a jdm spec that he had put in after the first motor died (at around 230k miles). the new one in it has 40 something k miles on it and i guess id have to spot the vin on the engine to see what year it is..
