Question about a tube i found

i have a 90 240sx hatch. I see this big tube come from the middle of the roof to a hole in the kicker panel or whatever that panel under the door is called.

Is it some sort of 80's drain system? Its not the rear washer because its a smaller tube next to it.

This big tube is on both sides :confused

btw, this is behind the automatic seatbelt motor.

If you have a sunroof, then you will notice a few of these channels running to other places.

I think they ARE some kind of drains for rainwater.

Not so much.

I think some have failed and are irregating my hatch/trunk right now. I keep finding water in there for some reason and i had to open one of the plugged holes in the spare tire compartment.

thats another problem i noticed with the S13. There are TO MANY HOLES to the outside. Its rediculous how easy water gets into this car. Where the back seat bolts use to be that hole goes to the outside along with the seat belt mounts. Then there are the holes in front of the engine bay

water leaks everywhere, from the spoiler, the rear wiper, the sunroof, the sun roof drainage system...

lol, i found that out the hard way in my mazda, i took my headliner out and kinda wondered what exactly those did and decided to find out on a day that it was pouring, and needless to say i got pretty wet. but yeah any car with a sunroff will have those.

Guess I got a broken one then, when I got my car, the shot tail light seals helped make a nice, nasty stew of paper and other assorted things in my trunk that fell under the spare tire cover

That's correct, we are all doomed for soup in the spare wheelwell. my 93 base hatch leaks through the tail lights too. Nothing rediculous, but it definitly leaks.

Thats easy to fix though. Just use some non-acid pipe dope to seal that up.
