I've noticed the A/C light turns on as soon as I start my car "if" the vent selecter is set to either defrost mode. Under heating conditions, will running the A/C have an adverse effect on fuel economy?

This video link states the A/C should be ran while heating the car to "condition" the A/C compressor and maintain good health: http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/how-do ... -work.html

Thoughts on this annoying yet possibly useful function? How do you deal with it? I've been leaving the A/C on (under heating conditions) for about 10 minutes and then manually turning it off.

Thanks.

I leave it on when I have the defrost setting on, otherwise the windows fog up because of the humidity in the car.
Many other people tend to find it a nuisance, but I don't ... if I don't want it on, I just push the button. It's not a huge issue.

Thanks for your reply. Does it effect fuel economy?
In my 98 Sentra without A/C, during the winter, never had fogging issues with just the heat on (in the defrost position). You're right, the Versa does seem to fog up fast when A/C is switched off. Seems that newer cars have somehow become dependant on A/C. Just saying.

Yes, it affects fuel economy a touch because of the parasitic loss on the A/C Compressor running.
