Hey all new to the forums and I have a quick question. The A/C in my wife's 2010 2.5S went out a week ago and I've narrowed it down to the clutch (battery voltage at the connector, pressure is good, compressor spins freely, no noise before it stopped working). From the research I've done, I know that Nissan doesn't offer just the clutch for our cars, but I'm wondering if the one for the 07-09's will fit. The compressor is the same part no. across the entire 4th gen platform, so why would they change the clutch for the '10 model year?

Has anyone attempted this yet? I saw a video of someone changing the clutch on his '08 and the pulley/clutch assembly looked the same.

There are a lot of bad compressor clutches out there right now.
If you have voltage to the clutch and its not engaging, its bad.
The SM shows 2 types of compressors used, one of which does NOT have a serviceable clutch.
If your compressor is of that type, I say just replace the assy and be done.
Pulling off clutches can be hard on a lot of these, and setting the gap...., fa' get about it.

By SM I'm assuming you mean service manual? I looked at the one on this site and I only saw one listed in the HA.pdf (DCS-171C). How can I determine which version I have on my car?

Contact the dealer parts dept. If the clutch assy shows NA for your car, you have the non=serviceable type.

I've already asked the dealership. First they tried to convince me that since the coil went out I may as well replace the entire compressor. Then they told me they carry only compressors, not the clutch by itself. So they've pretty much been written off as just trying to suck more money out (which wouldn't be the first time).

Its probably not a serviceable model. Just go with the assembly, and be done with it.
On another note, many techs don't adjust the oil charge in the system correctly when servicing AC systems. If they don't know what that means or give you a blank stare, its a bad sign.

Yeah I'm not trusting my dealership with anything more than oil changes and tire rotations. I have a Nissan tech on another site double checking for me tomorrow. Thanks for the help and input!
