Question about 1995 Infiniti G20 steering wheel...

Hello, this is my first post!

My Inifiniti's leather steering wheel is not doing well lately. I've noticed that the wheel is starting to rot. The leather is coming off, there are black patches on the wheel. After a long drive, my hands become stained with black along with pieces of the leather material sticking to my hands.

Is there anyway to fix this WITHOUT replacing the entire wheel or buying a steering wheel cover? I've tried a cover already, but it wasn't too good (it started to rot also).

I'm sure an upholstery shop could easily fix the problem. But it would probably require you taking the steering wheel off. I would contact a shop local and ask them what all needs to be done.
