Guys and Girls,I am new to the site and this is my first post. I have some questions and thought no better place to get answers than here. My son drives a 04 G35 Coupe Automatic. The car has 35,000 miles. The transmission started slipping yesterday. Wanted to know if this was a common problem or it is just because he is hard on it sometimes?

Welcome to NICO!!

At 35k, it is not common...but I'd recommend a good flush from the dealer as the car is 5 years old.

the 5AT transmission is not known to have issues with slippage, expecially that early in the life of the vehicle. I have 145K miles on my car now and I still haven't experience slippage. I do maintain the transmission fluid regularly though. Every 15-20K miles I do a drain/fill.

Use the Nissan Matic-J or Matic-S fluid only in the automatic transmission.

The car is under warranty for power train for 6 year/70K miles. I would check to make sure the transmission is under warranty with the dealer and if the problem continues I would make them fix it.
