I've always heard upholstery shops say the biggest cost is the actual leather... so yesterday I was at the junkyard and cut large swatches of gray leather off the rear seats on a junked 90Q... the parts of the seat that the body doesn't touch (or in great cond if it did) and the rear armrest. Next time I drive up north to NY I'll have my brother-in-law use it to recover my drivers seat and armrest.elwesso wrote:I recently (maybe a few months ago) called JOe and said they cant get that stuff anymore.....
Even if your foam is shot, an upholstery shop should be able to redo EVERYTHIGN for about that price... If I ever had that done on the 94 id have them restuff the seat and add a little more side bolstering...
I was quoted $1100/seat here in Sacramento. For that price, or even $700/seat, you could buy a whole Q with good seats, part out the rest, and maybe break even.tkd_q45 wrote:...the local shop wants $700 for just my driver's seat. Seems way to steep. Maybe I need to move out of state! Nearly everything here is expensive.
