What would make an alternator not charge?

I can see it spining, is there something that switches it on and off? maybe i wired it wrong?

Take the alternator or the car to autozone they test them for free.

i did, i took it to my friends autozone (he's the store manager) and did some testing, turns out the stupid regulator is bad. i hate remans...

so my old one is back in....
