I just went with my bro to the drag strip today. He was so confident that he was going to do well, but I, know more about cars, knew otherwise. He made 17 runs and never even broke 15.2s. His friend with the e36 m3 couldn't stop throwing in his face because he got 14.65s. My bro was so sure he would beat his friend's time, but alas his ignorance has caught up to him.

Bro's car (05 AT g35) mods:Z-tube, pop charger, 5/16 plenum spacer, FI true dual exhaust.

Bro's friend's car (e36 m3) mods:intake, exhaust, 100lb extra sound system

<- I can't stop laughing at my bro. I can finally shove his unwarranted confidence in his face.

Here are the slower time slips from my bro's run. He kept the 4 faster ones.

Looks like to me, your bro needs to learn how to drive. I pulled a 14.4 @99mph in my sedan with just pop charger. THat was my first and only pass I have ran in the car. Crappy 60ft to boot, give me some seat time in the car or drag radials and I will drop in the 13's.

I forgot to mention there is a slight altitude discrepency. Supposedly you are supposed to take 0.97 of the ET, but that still makes him slow as hell.

What RPM were you launching at? He said he was launching around 1500 and any higher, the brakes couldn't stop him from moving foward.

Edit: I just noticed you were 6mt.

Your bro drives like a 10year old girl! Lets see first mistake was buying an at, tell him to do a neutral drop and try that at 3000 -5000rpm's. Oh for the record motor trend did a test of a 2003 sc6spd and here it is...

"Taking meticulous care to break the car in properly rewarded us with the fastest G35 Coupe we've tested: 5.7 seconds to 60, eclipsing the century mark for the first time with its 14.2-second, 100.5-mph quarter mile. Icing on the cake was its class-topping 67.6-mph slalom. We got a good one, a really good one."

My bro said the fastest NA g35 barely broke 13's...

G35s are slow in the quarter mile for some reason, but seem much faster around 75mph+.

People should start making half mile tracks .

The G35 isn't a pavement pounder, but it will out carve most other cars all day long. If you want to do well on the strip, add a turbo/supercharger.

Exactly my point! Hey people the Infiniti G35 is a luxury sports coupe!!! It has room for four (well 2+2small people) It has a superb fit an finish it is engineered by the best to be the best all around!!! If you want a quarter mile time, sell it and buy a 350z, or one of those american pieces of crap like the gto! Motor trend car of the year in 03! I get more compliments about my car everyday like gorgeous an beautiful. It's black baby! Put a supercharger in it or a turbo kit, wider tires and then time it. Who really gives a **** what the quarter is anyway? It's fast now and sounds amazing! Sure it's not a supra or a gtr but it is classier than those. When you buy a g35 your talking either a bmw 3 series, audi a4, lexus, acura or a cheap mercedes. All of which are classy cars not track cars. I love my car and it's fast enough right now. In a year or two I will make it seriously faster.

Maybe it is now, but not when it was originally designed. In Japan, the g35 is the skyline and the only reason they stuck an infiniti label on it was for marketing purposes, otherwise it would have been a nissan. The best and clearest example of the original intent of the car being more sports than class and luxury is the first year it came out, 03 model. The interior of that year sucked crap and, at that time, it was just a slow skyline.

Yes, it is a Skyline. For years the Skyline has been more than the GT-R. For years they have had non-turbo models and sedan models. These new V35's are no different. The GT-R is made to be the beast not the GT-S's, which is what we all have. If my memory serves me correct a single turbo GTS-T is a little over 200hp, hmmm, what are we running. Do the math. So, the way you are trying to mock the G35 (V35) as being slower than past models is unjust.

i definately agree your friend needs driving lessons. i used to have an 03 altima se 5sp manual (245hp stock, fwd with VQ35 engine). with only a rear exhaust and cai, i ran a best of 14.3 @ 99.7 and that was in late spring in texas (hot) and on a slippery track. my best 60' was 2.2 something.

My best time is in my sig line. My average is about 14.1 @ 100 with a 2.15 60'. I run anywhere from 13.9 to 14.3 depending on weather/track conditions.

my dragstrip is firebird in phoenix at 1200 feet altitude.

I am lightly modded and NA.
