Robert,
What year is your M? The powertrain coverage is for 72 months/70,000 miles--Infiniti should cover that assuming it fails the oil consumption test
I purchased a Mechanical Protection Plan Execu-Care extended coverage plan from a Nissan dealership where i got my car from, before i knew about the Elite Infiniti one. According to the claim procedures in my booklet, and I quote:
CLAIM PROCEDURES:
1. Return YOUR VEHICLE to the dealership from whom YOU purchased this agreement or notify the administrator as soon as possible and obtain approval for an AUTHORIZED repair facility. If the FAILURE occurs during the WARRANTY period, YOUR VEHICLE must be returned to a dealership that sells the same vehicle make
WRT whether an engine consumption issue is covered by your warranty, you should examine your warrantly coverage. Fortunately for me, my warranty policy tells me "what is not covered," which I have heard is better for the owner compared to policies that tell you "what is covered"
my policy won't cover certain wear and tear items like brake pads, lining and shoes, wheel balancing, and body parts/bits-weather stripping, moldings, body panels, etc.
my policy also won't cover costs under any warranty period of the manufacturer (regardless of whether or not the warranty was revoked for any reason whatsoever or whether or not the manufacturer is still doing business)
basically it's best to follow what it states in your warranty policy details so that they can't deny your claim for some bullsh*t reason because you didn't follow the instructions to the letter.
don't know if this helps you at all, gl with the car
