Quality of aftermarket parts ?'s

HI,
Im looking at buying a new water pump. Debating between OEM, ISR(ISIS) and Phase 2. The after market brands are cheaper, but not by much, but usually also include the gasket. Thoughts and experience?

I noticed ISIS pump does not come with new studs. I like new studs with a pump. I typically have one broken already or snap during replacement. I also noticed ISIS is distancing itself from the terrorlst organization and is now ISR. Good idea! I wouldn't be surprised if ISIS is same as parts store brand, repackaged.

I'm not positive about all 240s, but in my experience, the water pump on my KA24DE's have used liquid gasket and I've always had to scrape off old liquid gasket, so no paper gasket seems normal.

I have only bought water pumps from parts stores. They are affordable and functional. I've yet to have to replace one more than once, so IMHO, they are reliable, non-performance enhancing parts. That's my personal experience.

You can upgrade hoses to silicone, you can get higher temp thermostat, higher temp radiator cap, different radiator, change fans, change fluid, and or put a different pulley on the water pump. I don't know why you'd want to spend $$ on anything more than a basic pump, but that's just because I don't know what I don't know. Maybe someone else knows more.

Store brands usually use cheap impellers coupled with cheap bearings. They're not designed to last as long as the OEM.
Personally, I would go OEM,GMB, Aisin or Hitachi for our cars.

Wasnt looking for a performance water pump...just a quality replacement. I wasnt sure if OEM was best way to go, or if the other companies' products were comparable or better. The phase 2 coil packs for example are supposed to be better than stock. For an S13 SR20DET
