Looking for a place where I can purchase quality brake pads and rotors for my 2001 Pathfinder. I see that there are many posts with recommendations ie. Brembo, DBA rotors. etc. but I am not sure if these are performance parts that would be overkill for my purpose. e.g wife drives truck to grocery store.

Just looking for OEM equivalent Brake parts without the equivalent OEM pricing that my local Nissan Dealership charges.

I have purchased from Courtesy Nissan in the past but, its become a hassle with having to pick them up.

Can anyone recommend a place in the GTA that would carry off-the-shelf brand where I could just go in a purchase? Not sure if Auto Source or Canadian Tire are the best places.

Your help is appreciated.

Is ordering from a US based company out of the question? Don't you guys get hit pretty hard when goods go over the border? If not I suggest Auto Parts Warehouse Summit Racing and Parts Geek

I've got a feeling that the difference in cost between upgraded parts and OEM will be negligible, but I could be wrong as I didn't research how much OEM parts are. I paid $119 a rotor for DBA's. I put them to the test for the first time today when someone pulled out in front of me and they stopped the vehicle dead.

if your just looking for something cheap that will still do the job, I'd look into a set of Brembo Blanks, they shouldn't be more then $50-60 each, and then spend no more then $100 on good quality pads, the whole job shouldn't cost you more then $250 (including tax, shipping, and if you do the install) thats a good deal in my book, but then again, I'm use to spending small fortunes on brakes for my vehicles.

Nice! What are they? They've got an interesting design, I don't think I've seen a drill pattern that replicates a slot pattern.

Performance improvements sells an ACTUAL performance rotor and pad I picked up everything for the front for $290 ish with tax, its not cheap bs youd find on ebay that warps in a month, they stop better then oem with no fade.

I forget the name but its the only brand they carry

Im sure theres a performance improvements in the gta, Id stay away from the cheap ebay replacements though, there cheap metals and warp easy

Brakes arent something you wanna take chances with

We'll I went to Parts source prepared to pick up a pair on Wagner rotors and a set of Thermoquite pad's. The bill rang in at just over $200....and then I noticed the MADE IN CHINA. label just beside the packaged in Illinois sticker (or some other U.S state) I reconsidered I hightailed to the Nissan dealership prepared to bend over.

The total bill for OEM with the inner seals came to $400CDN. (That included a 10% discount that the dealership was nice enough to provide me with after they let me know that I might as well do the inner seals.) Yes it was about $100 more than I could have paid for OEM if I shopped around but I priced all factors including shipping or crossing over the border and/or picking them up myself.

It's all done and if I would have had the dealership do it, I would have been in the double range. So, I am not complaining about the $400.

This info might help the next person that just wants the OEM components that Nissan uses. They likely can be purchased from a component re-seller either locally or on-line for much less. These were the same pads and Rotors that I had replaced from my 2001 Pathfinder 4WD LE.

PADS - Akebono AP59HFF (Nissan Part: (9702F)Rotors - Kiriu (26MM?)

I also took the bearing part info in case someone is searching for bearings. (Mine were inspected and fine so were just re-packed.)

Inner: Timkin LM603049 Outer: Timkin NP956328

Some advice..inspect your shims prior of purchase PAD's or ensure your pads also come with the hardware. My old ones were not in good shape but I used anyway because the nissans did come with!

Interesting info! Were the Akebono pads from Nissan Ceramic or Semi-Metallic?

You dont need to do a daytona 500 to experience brake fade, do a few hard stops on a hot day at highway speed, youll feel it losing its bite on the rotor

Thanks for info on Nissan parts etc. I have only had to change front pads so far, rotors looked fine. I used Satisfied Brake Ceramic brake pads from Tire Rack. If I remember correctly they were made in Canada, will need to double check that though. Also found out, they are marketed at Pep Boys Auto Stores under another name. Same Pads, similar box, same company (emailed them), and a little cheaper and local (in U.S.) Used them on my other SUV as well. Had Akebono Ceramics on last vehicle, liked them as well although I thought they were made in China?

Satisfied Brakes are a Canadian company from Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. They market Pro Stop brakes at Pep Boys which have same part no's ( "quality is same..Pep Boys is a custom program" ). Satisfied Brakes are also sold thru Amazon. Checked the box, they are Made in Canada. Their customer service isnt very informative or friendly via emails-didnt really care though, liked their product. Although I was told their "warranty" is thru the dealer who sold them, how that translates to mileage or years I have no clue...... Some companies go the extra mile to encourage future sales, others couldnt care less I guess.

Here is a link to a current ebay listing for Akebono's--and no I am not affiliated in any way to the seller, always check their ratings etc:

Hope this helps some who are looking at replacing their pads.

ryde,

Do u still like those rotors?? Can you provide the seller name or name of the rotors? Wanted to get some Brembo slotted or drilled, having trouble finding them. Brembo shows nothing for 2000 Pathfinder on their website catalog.

Thanks
