i was reading a road and track magazine a couple days ago in class and noticed that the new Audi S4 has a 4.2 liter v8, and has 4cams!!! and 5valves per cyl!! i wasnt even aware they made those, it puts down slightly less hp than the m3, but a lil more torque (the m3 being its main competitior) and i must admit i was surprised at the numbers, and to think vipers and such are still stuck on 2 valves per cyl!!

Quad cam is nothing new. The cadilac northstare engines are quad cam 4 valve per cyl but the 5 valves is news to me. The caddies are 32 valve but this is 40!!. Nice.

All current Audi engines have 5 valves/cylinder. The 1.8T has 20 valves, the new 3.0 V6 has 30 valves, and the V8's have 40 valves. BTW, they stopped selling the inline 5 cylinder after 1995.

VH45DE and VK45DE and VK45DD. All 4 valve DOHC.

Know your Nissans.

The Ferrari V8s have been 5 valves for quite a while too.

i realize they are dohc, and 4valve per cyl, however, this particular car was QOHC (4x OHC) and had 5valves per cylinder, i thought it was quite interesting, and also, almost ALL motors are 4valves per cyl and DOHC or SOHC, so the vh45de, vk45de and vh45dd all fall into that category, which to me is 'normal'
