I've seen it before, and it's a really cool idea... but that thing sounds like a lawn motor... even more than a civic with a muffler.

Mabye because I am an old rotor-head, but yeah it is old. God I hate Scoot's body work.

ok from what i thought i understood about rotaries, the displacement is only one chamber, and with a quad rotor setup isn't that like 12.0 L per revolution or something? 500hp 12.0 L isn't THAT impressive, but still - it's a rotary and im a roto-tard so what do I know.

Rotaries have 2 power cycles per revolution (one of the reasons the've been disqualified from so many racing series), so some people equate that to double the displacement. For example the RX-7's 13B has a displacement of 1.3L, but because it has 2 power cycles per revolution, it could be considered a 2.6L. So this quad-rotor (which is probably very similar to the Mazda 787B motor) could be considered a 6.0L engine.

How do you get that? Each rotor has one intake, one compression, one power, one exhaust just like a piston engine, it just happens around a circle (more like a peanut or "8" shape).

I think what he meant was that every revolution of a rotary makes power, unlike a 4 stroke IC engine.

Actually, mazda's 13B is a 2 rotor rotary and each rotor has a displacement of around .670L, which makes it a 1.3L

But a lot of people say that it's actually a 2.6L because it uses that displacement for power every rotation, whereas a 4 stroke IC engine uses every other rotation for power.

Ok, Yeah, what he said was totally wrong. But now I understand what he was trying to get at. The sound of that thing makes me miss my FC:(

I would love to have an FD35. I almost bought one instead of a 240, but I like torque to much.:D

nope, its exactly NOT like a piston engine, because one rotor does all of those functions at once and the wankle rotary gets TWO combustions per rotation of the output shaft (the output shaft spins 3 times for each revolution of the rotor, there is one combustion per 1/3 rotation of each rotor) where as 4 piston engines only get one combustions per crank revolution.

not only that, the combutions on rotories last for 270 degrees of the output shafts revolution where as a cylinder motor combustion only lasts for 180 degrees of the crank rotation.

They are two entirely difforent motors that run on the same concept of suck, squish, bang, blow using air and fuel

I also belive in the 2x mulitplier, 500hp for 6.0L is still very impressive, but what even more impressive is your getting those 6 liters out of a motor half the physicall size of a 6 liter V12 ferrari motor.

"Ported to 3.0L."

how did this happen , wouldnt that require a larger rotor ? not to mention makeing the houseing bigger to accomodate the rotor wouldnt be a task that could be done by hand i would think

did they mate 2 13b engines together or what ?...thatd make 2.6 litres... just curious how they got more displacemnt on a rotary

ok i'm guessing they mated 2 13b's together...and then made the combustion ports (that's what they're called on rotaries right?)larger, effectively upping the displacement of the motor...i'm not quite sure if that's how it works but i think that's it...

Uhh.. right. So a 13B-REW makes less torque than your KA?

255 hp 217 lb. ft.

It has 47 ft. lbs. more torque than your KA... and it's a smooth torque delivery all the way from when the primary turbocharger spools.

Who leaves thier engine stock? I was talking about potential, and I never said anything about a 240 having more torque than a 13b in stock trim. 13b's have never been known for thier torque potential, but the KA has. 217 lb. ft.? Yeah at like 7k rpms.:rolleyes
