Does anyone know if using quad platinum plugs in a Hardbody with a ka24e at 165000 miles will cause any problems? I have heard they tend to hurt some engines.

I doubt you'll see any damage from using them. But they tend to be more gimmicky than anything else. The idea may be to give a spark more paths to choose from and perhaps extend the life by reducing the overall gap increase over the life of the plug. But if its a side fire plug like the Bosch +4s they may be subject to less spark exposure (the 3 ground straps cause an unnecessary shrouding effect and the ceramic nose tends to cover a portion of the spark as well). They may also experience a small amount of quenching through the ceramic nose. The Bosch +4's have the insulator come all the way up to the top of the center electrode.

I've actually tried a set in a 240sx many years ago and took them out within an hour. It misfired quite a bit.

Stick with OEM NGKs. Anything more, as stated, is really a waste of money unless you plan to really beef up the rest of the ignition system.
