I have many questions maybe you can help me. (Plz use the question number if your answering a specific one, plz):

1)It's always needed to remove the transmission to change the downpipes? I wanted to make customs, but if i need to do that I wont.

2)Well, and also, if I leave stock downpipes and precats, but from there use straight pipe will I gain hp? or the precats needs to be removed?

3)Also, when changing stock downpipes I need to buy EGR removal Kit or os there a way to leave it there until I can remove it?

Thanks :wavey:

Welcome to Nico!

1) Not necessary, but definitely helps. I would say necessary to remove precats, but it's easier with DPs.

2) Don't leave the stock precats, absolutely no point

3) Nope, the EGR attaches to the manifold, so unless you're upgrading to MSP manifolds, you don't need to eliminate it.

1) What is DPs?

2) I know there is no point but I dont want to remove transmission , and I want to get a custom downpipes, but for what I've seen stock downpipes are together with the precats.

3) Mmmm, I see... Now I got the hole picture... I was thinking that the headers was one piece with downpipes LOL I got confused. Thanks [#3 solved]

DP = Downpipes :)

Downpipes and precats are interchangeable, they're exclusive. You can have one or the other, but not both. Exhaust flow goes:

Manifold -> turbo -> downpipe (or precat) -> testpipes (main cats) -> X-pipe or H-pipe -> muffler section

LOL, didn't see that coming!

Ok thanks, so I guess that downpipes are definetively better than precats. Mm, and I asume that all the TT from 94-96 have that cr@p?

I think that what I am going to do is tell my muffle workshop guy (if precats) to cut that from the very begining, and after that to weld new 3" pipe (for a custom downpipe cause no money yet)

Like this look:

*this pic is for n/a but it works for illustrative porpuses. Sorry for the lame coloring.

So a cat-back system goes from the first 8729 to the right.

If you have a JDM car, you have JDM quarter pipes, not Precats. Those would mate up to an NA test pipe.

If you need to make custom test pipes now, to replace the 98 parts on the left of your pic, do it so they mate to the exhaust and precats the same as the OEM parts do. So that way, when you can afford to/want to replace the precats with downpipes, you don't have to make new stuff over again. Make sense?

Yeahp! :) Thanks for the help! As soon as I go to the muffle shop I'll post some pictures to let you see my progress.

Just trying to find out how big my muffler should be 2.5", 2.75" or 3" all the way! In here post6483545.html#p6483545
