First off. I'd like to say I just got my Stillen header installed.
IT IS VERY WORTH IT. The car DRIVES SO MUCH SMOOTHER it's crazy. I didn't think it would make a huge difference but it did.
I have been getting compliments locally from people on the street the past few days. Very fun.

Ok. Aside from that I didn't want to post this on the now dead (yes I SAID IT) Nico Altima Section for drivetrain and tuning because I've realized there's not enough people that are willing to try new things. That's cool and all but I want to see what's out there.

Ok for one.. I was told the QR25DE throttle body spacer from the 06+ sentra se-r spec Vs easily fit our cars. I'll try to confirm this ASAP.

Here's some I found:
http://www.amazon.com/Street-Performanc ... B000I4SW2G
http://www.amazon.com/OBX-PowerFlow-Thr ... B0027EL5CO
http://www.outlawengineering.com/nissanqr25deframe.html
http://www.econoaid.com/Econoaid_booste ... altima.htm (Personally not suggesting this one.)

Those are among tons more I found.

Now, I'm not sure how people feel about OBX but they have some decent priced mods for our cars. Looking under the hood of my own car the other day, I found it was exactly the same as an "older" QR. IOW, the pulley was in the same exact spot. I was told pulleys are essentially the same. We'll have to see.

Pulleys:

http://www.unorthodoxracing.com/Itemdet ... 0&Model=15
http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/perform ... ne/Pulleys

If anyone has words of wisdom they'd like to share by all means please do. I'm willing to try these out but I can't see personally spending the money of these parts. (I have a few bills to pay.) But in coming months I see these being an easy purchase for me.

For you 3.5 guys I found this.

it's still cheap to me considering I paid $700 for a NISMO Header for my 02 Spec-V years ago lol :chuckle:

NIghtmare, how much louder did the header make it inside the cabin? I was gonna get mine installed yesterday but it took so long for the shop to get to replacing two TPMS sensors they didnt have enough time left in the day to install it. Im probably just gonna get it done on saturday.

How much did the shop charge you for install? Did you use the stock gasket or did you get a replacement one?

the throttle body spacers fall into the same category as this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Universa ... ccessories

and this:

http://slrmotorsports.com/shop/index.ph ... tail&p=641

the IDEA is that its supposed to do two things, because there is more space, the air and fuel can mix better... causing a more dense detonation, and in a v6 or v8 a circular motion to help go to both sides of the motor more "efficiently"

in the real world, this doesnt do a damn thing, in fact, when i raced my truck at the strip i tried one on it for the fun of it, wasnt really sure about it but for 20 bucks it was a fun try, but for some reason, my track times slowed nearly a full 10th of a second, which is really bad...

that was my experience with it.

Hey. I have an intake and exhaust as well so it gets pretty loud during acceleration. Gradual acceleration from 50mph + is very throaty and not bothersome. Hitting the gas ("pedal to the medal") will not only get you noticed but you'll feel the vibrations in the cabin as well as hear it.

Here is how I can explain it so far.
I went on a road trip with a few girl friends of mine up to Maine from New Jersey this week (600 miles back and forth) and we noticed the music on my iPod if put at 3/4 the volume "IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII----"with the windows on and the air conditioner on practically mutes sound in the cabin during a hard acceleration. Again though, I do have other performance parts that made my car loud to begin with.
Driving with the windows down all the way and no A/C on provided a tolerable throaty sound. Mind you, this was normal driving.

I have CVT. When I used Manual mode (I DO A LOT) you'll notice it gets loud during shifting no matter what speed you're at. A quick trick I learned was to switch from M to D while going down my quiet block at night to let my car coast down my hill and then I pull into my driveway. When my foot is NOT on the gas you can only hear the subtle exhaust note which isn't loud enough to wake anyone. On the other hand, my friends don't need me too call them when I'm outside anymore because during the day they hear me coming (mind you again, driving normally.)

IMHO the cabin noise is very tolerable even with all my parts in. It delivers a very deep, throaty, muscle car tone, and a lot of people agree. Also please note this mod deletes your cat which makes this incredibly noticeable when driving by. It's not obnoxious, "droning," or "weed-wackerish".

Lastly, while driving in D on a highway you'll find you can listen to music around 7-8 if you're keeping a constant speed. And let's put it this way, it's a lot quiet in your cabin then it is outside.

Just a cool little side note. When I first received this car I used to get tons of compliments. Now, I'm getting compliments everywhere as if it's a new car again.

Oh I didn't use a shop. I worked on it with my good friend's brother who did the install so it was free. I went to a shop back in January that told me it would be $80 an hour. The install itself took about 2 1/2 hours. We used the stock gasket. I'm going to say what my friend said. Make sure YOU WANT TO DO THIS. The alternator is a son of a gun to put back on because of the belt. We also skipped the soldering part so my check engine light is on. We're going to get rid of that problem though.

Oh! By the way. You'll feel an incredible difference in power when you get this. My friend is used to driving hooked up cars much faster than my car and collects BMW M3s (currently has three) and is a seasoned track veteran. Of course I trusted him with a test drive of my vehicle. He had so much fun with it. He loved the handling and said it had a lot of kick and torque for a 2.5. Not surprising since most people and reviewers say the 2.5 is a torque powered car. Haha, an M3 convertible actually tried getting at us (I'm debadged) and we laughed it off. It was just kind of funny to notice the difference in attention the car is getting now.

I'm sorry I typed so much I got really into it lol.
OVERALL -
Great mod.
Sounds like a muscle car (compared it to some old mustangs in my town)
Cabin noise is not annoying and tolerable.
Much quicker.
Very fun to drive.

I haven't used one yet and I'm sorry you had a bad experience with it but there have been people that used to the mod on their cars before and proved track time differences.

No problem man. I'm not sure how the catback will sound. My buddy thanked me for not having a catback. Harder to install I suppose? I can only think of a few theories. You're going to love the mod though. And you're going to feel it! Enjoy =].

i had the header since last feb. and i never really noticed any difference in sound at all, very little if any. after i got it i showed my buddies and they could barely tell. it sounded a little deeper then stock, but barely.

performance wise, it makes a huge difference. it was def my most fav part performance wise. i would totally recommend it to any 2.5er's

I have to admit now that I put 800 miles on it on a roadtrip, when the gas is not stepped on hard you can't tell as much. I'm still pretty deep sounding and noticeable though, especially in manual mode. Keep in mind the other modifications that create noise too.

thats true nightmare, all i had was an intake and header and honestly the stock exhaust did a great job in keep the same sound lol. I wanted the exhaust note to change so bad when i installed the header, but the stock exhaust really is restrictive. now i have the stillen exhaust and the exhaust purrs, i love it

lol without a doubt. its not bad either, im not trying to brag or anything, but i actually raced an 09 civic si coupe from a dig and it had i/h/e and i took him from 0-50ish but once 60 came and my cvt really started to shine** lol not really, he caught up and ate me, but for those quick seconds, i had him by a little more then half a car!

we really don't have it that bad, especially if you have a stick!
