I was gonna get mine installed yesterday but it took so long for the shop to get to replacing two TPMS sensors they didnt have enough time left in the day to install it. Im probably just gonna get it done on saturday.
How much did the shop charge you for install? Did you use the stock gasket or did you get a replacement one?
Hey. I have an intake and exhaust as well so it gets pretty loud during acceleration. Gradual acceleration from 50mph + is very throaty and not bothersome. Hitting the gas ("pedal to the medal") will not only get you noticed but you'll feel the vibrations in the cabin as well as hear it.
Here is how I can explain it so far.
I went on a road trip with a few girl friends of mine up to Maine from New Jersey this week (600 miles back and forth) and we noticed the music on my iPod if put at 3/4 the volume "IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII----"with the windows on and the air conditioner on practically mutes sound in the cabin during a hard acceleration. Again though, I do have other performance parts that made my car loud to begin with.
Driving with the windows down all the way and no A/C on provided a tolerable throaty sound. Mind you, this was normal driving.
I have CVT. When I used Manual mode (I DO A LOT) you'll notice it gets loud during shifting no matter what speed you're at. A quick trick I learned was to switch from M to D while going down my quiet block at night to let my car coast down my hill and then I pull into my driveway. When my foot is NOT on the gas you can only hear the subtle exhaust note which isn't loud enough to wake anyone. On the other hand, my friends don't need me too call them when I'm outside anymore because during the day they hear me coming (mind you again, driving normally.)
IMHO the cabin noise is very tolerable even with all my parts in. It delivers a very deep, throaty, muscle car tone, and a lot of people agree. Also please note this mod deletes your cat which makes this incredibly noticeable when driving by. It's not obnoxious, "droning," or "weed-wackerish".
Lastly, while driving in D on a highway you'll find you can listen to music around 7-8 if you're keeping a constant speed. And let's put it this way, it's a lot quiet in your cabin then it is outside.
Just a cool little side note. When I first received this car I used to get tons of compliments. Now, I'm getting compliments everywhere as if it's a new car again.
Oh I didn't use a shop. I worked on it with my good friend's brother who did the install so it was free. I went to a shop back in January that told me it would be $80 an hour. The install itself took about 2 1/2 hours. We used the stock gasket. I'm going to say what my friend said. Make sure YOU WANT TO DO THIS. The alternator is a son of a gun to put back on because of the belt. We also skipped the soldering part so my check engine light is on. We're going to get rid of that problem though.
Oh! By the way. You'll feel an incredible difference in power when you get this. My friend is used to driving hooked up cars much faster than my car and collects BMW M3s (currently has three) and is a seasoned track veteran. Of course I trusted him with a test drive of my vehicle. He had so much fun with it. He loved the handling and said it had a lot of kick and torque for a 2.5. Not surprising since most people and reviewers say the 2.5 is a torque powered car. Haha, an M3 convertible actually tried getting at us (I'm debadged) and we laughed it off. It was just kind of funny to notice the difference in attention the car is getting now.
I'm sorry I typed so much I got really into it lol.
OVERALL -
Great mod.
Sounds like a muscle car (compared it to some old mustangs in my town)
Cabin noise is not annoying and tolerable.
Much quicker.
Very fun to drive.

the IDEA is that its supposed to do two things, because there is more space, the air and fuel can mix better... causing a more dense detonation, and in a v6 or v8 a circular motion to help go to both sides of the motor more "efficiently"
in the real world, this doesnt do a damn thing, in fact, when i raced my truck at the strip i tried one on it for the fun of it, wasnt really sure about it but for 20 bucks it was a fun try, but for some reason, my track times slowed nearly a full 10th of a second, which is really bad...
that was my experience with it.
I haven't used one yet and I'm sorry you had a bad experience with it but there have been people that used to the mod on their cars before and proved track time differences.
