so I did some researches on the internet and I found some concerns about

Altima coupe 2.5s, which its engine QR25DE seems to be having some

flaws..here's what wiki has:

Concerns[edit] Manufacturing, design, and assembly flawsThe QR25DE sold in the United States has been subject to a significant number of problems in its short lifetime. A variety of mechanical flaws have led to numerous technical service bulletins, recalls, repairs, and outright engine replacements.

Vehicles with the QR25DE may ingest material from a damaged pre-catalyst resulting in increased oil consumption.[7] Power valve screws in the intake manifold may become loose and result in unstable idling or power loss.[8] In June 2006, it came to Nissan's attention that approximately 85,000 Altimas and 2,000 Sentra SE-Rs equipped with the QR25DE and built between January and May 2006 may experience unusually high oil consumption. This can lead to premature engine failure and possibly a fire. While Nissan investigates the problem, owners of the affected vehicles are being advised to check their oil frequently (every 700 mi (1,100 km) [1127 km]), and dealers have been instructed to place the affected vehicles on sales hold.

so should I go for the 2.5s

if they noticed it in 2006, i'm positive it's been fixed 4 years down the road. go for it.

btw, wiki isn't the best source of information either.

but according to the info you provided all vehicles that were supposed to be sold with the faulty qr25de were placed on hold. moreover, after doing more research myself, i discovered that nissan had already recalled most of the affected vehicles that were sold.

and if you have this many doubts about the qr25de, just get the vq35de. best decision i made by far.

The problems were certainly for the "older" revisions of the QR25DE. IE: Butterfly screws, Cat Converter getting sucked back into the engine, etc.

All this has been fixed. The only problem still remains is the cat but I have yet to hear of anyone that has had a problem with the 2008+ cat/QR25DE. Of course, there is a chance you get a bad motor, face it, it's built by people for people, one will go through that has an oil leak, cracked piston, bad head gasket, etc. It happens.

That all said, I am running 7psi through my motor and I beat the hell out of it on a daily basis and have yet to have a problem (knock on wood). I have 50,000+kms on my engine right now and do oil changes every 4-6000K. The engine is a tank IMO.

Yeah, I'm pretty tough on my engine too and it's been holding up like a champ for two years running. Oil problems? What oil problems?! Those issues have long since been fixed. If you want a ridiculously torquey four-banger, this is the one to get!

I just took my coupe all the way from Calgary to San Diego...it was perfect! The 2.5 just sips gas on the highway too.
