Post

Hello,

I'm working on plans to mod my 2009 Altima 2.5l CVT, I plan to do this in 3 stages and would love it if people could add any resources they've found along the way.
A little history on my car: bought the car new and had Nissan's replacement CVT at 100k, I do all my own maintenance and it's in excellent running condition. I currently have 170k miles and it's bone stock other then the k&n drop in air filter.
3 stage plan:
1. rebuild/mod engine - anybody had their car tuned, this will be important during this stage and stage 3
forged pistons, rods
c&c head, custom cams and valves, and headers - would like to find a performance intake if anyone has seen one please provide a link
2. Replace CVT with 6spd manual and use performance clutch
3. custom turbo kit, bigger fuel injectors and fuel pump
Ultimate goal will be around 350-400 hp :woot:

Thanks in advance for any positive suggestions and links where folks have found good parts happy modding!

Neat ideas! Welcome to NICO Club.

I don't know, but guess you'd have quite a bit of boost to get such power from the 2.5, so you'll be looking at tough internals and a revised compression ratio, which might make it not work well for NA, so the rebuild and mod might want to be concurrent with the turbo system addition. Have you considered an engine swap for your power goals? I looked at wiki for the Nissan QR engine details. Nothing has come close to the power you seek. There is a supercharger hybrid version! Now, I wouldn't mess with the electric motor for hybrid, but perhaps that supercharger would bolt up to your intake pretty nice.
Have you considered getting that supercharger onto your engine? That could be interesting for sure. Check for upgrades for all the similar cars that use the engine (Altima, Sentra, Rogue, Primera, and those hybrids)

Definitely get a clutch and MT installed. That will be lot's of fun and could handle your higher power numbers better than a CVT. You can do that at any time to make the car more fun. So, it could be step 1.
