QR and SR transmission differences?

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Hey, got a pretty big question for all the sentra buffs here. I was wondering what it would take to get the QR 6-speed to bolt up to the SR engine? I heard the bell housing, input shaft, and transmission mounts all have to be changed. Can anyone truly verify what needs to be done in full? Thanks in advance.

First off you would need an adapter plate to mount the qr transmission to the sr engine. Next once this modification was complete, you have to figure out what axles you want to use in what hubs and then the shift linkage is the next problem. The older sr powered cars had cable linkage, newer sr cars and qr vehicles are hydraulic. So how would u adapt the old to the new. It would be way more work than what is worth.

Not to mention that QR trannies, mostly the 02-03 ones, are buggy. A number of Spec owners have had them replaced under warranty. On top of that, the ratios weren't very good til the past couple of years either.

They lengthened the ratios for the 04 and up. And yes the transmission is still finicky at best. When not warmed up, especially on a cold morning its like shifting a box of rocks, also every now and again if I wind my motor out in 1st gear when Ill go to shift it will pop out of gear as soon as I press the clutch.
