first no such thing as a QG16DEOn the QG18DE SULEV the timing is determined by a fixed sensor in the crank and a fixed sensor in the head. On the QG18DE ULEV It uses a fixed sensor on the crank [same place as the SULEV] and then 2 sensors on the head one is for cam position and the other is for monitering intake cam timing advance {VTC}. But there are no adjustments for it on the engine. It can be altered in the ecm by using the ConsultII factory scan tool for testing purposes but will return when the test mode is exited.

thanks for the info. but just to correct you in my country - Trinidad - we have a nissan vehicle called the Almera or Sunny(singapore model) that comes with the QG 16DE engine. actually u can get as low as a 1300CC in my country. but those engines are slow. the singapore model comes with VTC. the model in my country does not. we have a primera model (foreign used) that comes from japan with the QG 18DE. we don't have access to the SULEV model u refer to, probably cause we don't have any restrictions on emissions in Trinidad. just for reference - http://www.nissan.com.sg/launc...c.cfm - the only difference is in my country it does not come VTC an Max torque is rated at 143 /4000 Nm/RPM. but thanks for the info anyway.

Yea I am not very familier with other countries vehicles. But how the 18 is set up would be the same on the 16 since its part of the QG family.
