Alright, so my clutch peddle has always felt very soft, almost like you're pressing on a pillow. . . And today I decided to do the infamous clutch damper removal for the purpose of stiffening the peddle. . .

So anyways, after the modification has been performed and bled properly, the clutch peddle didn't really feel all that much different. . .

So my questions are as follows;

1. How's the degree of stiffness on your clutch peddle?? And also include if you have done the damper bypass mod.

2. Is my peddle still somewhat soft due to the fact that my clutch might need to be changed?

And yeah, if you guys might know some extra tricks to stiffen the clutch peddle, please let me know!

Thanks in advance.

mine is a long and slightly resistant press. I've looked into aftermarket or modified clutch cylinders in the past but I cant remember. that may help.

Has anyone ever bled a clutch line before?? may have air in the line?Maybe upgrading to steel braided lines, that may be noticeable?get a chilton or haynes to see how to change clutch fluid and bleed out the air.

good luck

Its not a big issue to me. Its just I've noticed it feels softer the faster I'm going. It feels alot softer if I'm accelerating fast and shifting in higher rpms.

I dont know if I would say its like pushing on a pillow. My clutch is quite soft in the 240. Last year for about 4 months I had the privilege of driving a 6 speed G35 coupe. I came back to the 240, and nearly ripped a hole in the bottom of the car from pushing on the clutch so hard, my foot hurt for a good day

I agree with crackin, that Ive got a long and slightly resistant press on first push, after the release point, its hella soft. But its never been an issue. Try a honda FIT, those things are like pushing on air. Im sure your clutch is fine

Alright thanks a lot guys, but too bad... I hate the feeling. My brothers Nissan NX 1600 is as stiff as a rock, and I love that feeling. Also, my buddies S13 (with the damper removal mod) feels so much stiffer. . . When I test drove his S13, I stalled it the first time because it was just. . . So much different. . .

WTF S14's SUCK!! (In the clutch peddle softness area).

Get a stiffer pressure plate, that'll give you a stiffer clutch pedal feel.

Replace your clutch with one that has a stiffer pressure plate, problem solved. Edit: damn Razi beat me to it

The biggest advantage to ditching the damper it that it is now a crap ton easier to bleed the clutch, and the only time that removing the damper box will do any good is if it has some air in it from the last time someone changed the master/slave cylinder, and didn't bleed all the air out of the system.

I had to drive a friends 5 speed protoge home when he bought it(never drove a stick) and his had literally no resistance. I kind of liked it, but I don't know if I'd want to drive that everyday. my 240's clutch has some resistance but I can also tell when it's engaging which is nice. I haven't removed the dampener, but I haven't gotten under there to see if the previous owner did. He would have told me if he did though

I would check the slave and clutch master cylinders. I had a bad slave and had a super soft pedal, when I replaced it pedal was stiff as Hugh Hefner.

Yeah, if your clutch is still soft, you either have air in your system and/or your pressure plate is worn.

I have an RPS MAX pressure plate, everytime I feel a stock 240 clutch i'm afraid of punching it through the floor, lol.

I think my clutch peddle's current stiffness is already ON the Hugh Hefner stage (old, worn out, and soggy).

Yeah my clutch is super soft as well. But I get stuck in five o clock traffic everyday on I95 so I don't mind it so much. I had to drive a friends turbo Focus with a stage 4 clutch for a while and stalled it more times than I would like to admit but I definitely enjoyed knowing when the clutch was engaging. After going back to my 240 I was kinda disappointed.
