Invest 40 minutes of your time to listen to Schiff and come to understand what the future of our economy is.

That paper in your pocket is only worth what we agree it it is and it's losing that implied value at a faster rate.

You buy precious metals right Mike? I've been thinking about buying silver and gold.

Lost it all in a tragic boating accident unfortunately. :frown:

I think the price is too high right now. Not realistically so, if anyone paid attention it would be significantly higher, but we are still in the "emperor's clothes look lovely" phase and the first piece of economic news that can be BSed into looking like "we are turning the corner" and it should drop some. If we can avoid the second dip of the recession I hope the euphoria of the election will cause prices to go down for the 15 minutes people think some magic has just occurred and reality will immediately bend to our fantasies. I don't think it matters who wins either. In that case I might pick some up to replace the stuff I lost, yes.

GTFO, you lost it in a boating accident?

As far as buying precious metals go, I'm not sure I want to wait for it to drop in price. Statistically is doesn't really drop all that much and I'm not comfortable investing in much else these days to be honest. We have no 401k option and nothing else, to me, is worth putting money into. So I've been rat holing cash.

I'm also thinking about buying lots of guns. Guns don't really lose value and are enjoyable at the same time as being an investment..not that I need to tell you that.

I can't make sense of these recent "invest in gold and silver" advertisements I keep hearing on the radio. Their push is that the dollar is about to collapse, and you should buy precious metals to brace for the impact. Well, honestly I don't disagree with that assessment, but how are we supposed to buy our precious metals? With corn flakes? Why the sudden rush in advertisement to get people to trade a soon to collapse currency for precious metals? If the dollar is about to collapse, why push to get more of them by selling off metals?

The prices are often unfavorable. Buy direct and avoid those radio and tv ads. It's like the gold buying outfits. They give you pennies on the dollar and then send your old rings and necklaces to the smelters for big profit. The problem most gold bugs have is, their analysis is like the underpants gnomes.

In a currency collapse, we don't magically flip to a gold-based exchange system at midnight. There will be a long period of complete mayhem and you would be stupid to try to bring out the gold. Things with real value will become the currency at first. f*** a gold coin, how many cans of beans you have? How well can you protect those cans? My buggy buddies fixate on gold when they should be thinking about tin and lead too. :slap:

Well said Mike. Gold and other pm's are a good source for "money" if things hit tot total s***. But you've got to survive the initial s*** in order for your gold to have any worth.
