I went to a shop to get my post-wintertime 4-wheel alignment and they said they can't do it. I need both tie rods replaced. This seems a bit high. Does anyone else have an experience with this for <$100K miles and does that cost seems fair and reasonable? When I searched online it seems the replacement parts are $35-80ea. I don't know which brand of parts I should seek or avoid. Any advice? The NAPA part is about $80. https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NCP2693 ... sionRank=2.

I searched for the part no.s and the shop is using parts from Advance Auto Parts for $51ea, vs. them charging me $131. That's odd! https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/car ... 12066263-P

Here's the verdict! I went to another alignment shop, the national chain, where I have a lifetime alignment service. I asked the hop for the 4-wheel alignment and asked them if a tie rod was wonky would they still do it. The manager said, "No, we wouldn't because it would require the repair or it would go out of alignment fast." Right, naturally! So 45 mins later they finished my car, I have the alignment sheet of the before/after specifications and he said it's all good.

It would seem the first shop was disingenuous! I have the paperwork from both shops and the quote for the overpriced repairs.

You're being awfully kind calling that behavior "disingenuous" and not s%#t.
