I returned today from a five day trip and picked up my car at the airport parking garage and everything was working fine. I also had to make a couple of trips to the store and again, no problem. Tonight, when I left for a Christmas party, the screen on my 2015 Q70 was frozen and none of the lights were working on any of the screen controls - no navigation, no heater controls, no audio controls and the phone wouldn't play through the system. The bluetooth connected and everything else worked great. I stopped and turned off the car and turned it on again and didn't change anything. After getting back home, I removed the negative cable to the battery and then connected it again after a couple of minutes and everything worked fine again.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm still under the original warranty - should I take it into the dealer to see if there is a firmware update or if they can test the system for a defect?

I'd definitely take it and have them do a diagnostic...but that's not something I've seen happen here. Worst I've seen personally is the screen flicker...so I just hold the 'light' button on the multi-switch for 5 seconds, turn the screen off and then do the same to turn it on again.

Well considering it costs around $6000 to replace that headunit......yeah I'd be taking it in under warranty!

Thanks - I have a warranty service appointment at the dealer on Thursday to have them look at it and run diagnostics. I had been building a small list of other items that I'm hoping they can resolve:
- both front turn signals have moisture in them
- the cruise control in my M35x was rock solid - whatever I set it at, is stayed at that speed and the +/- toggle button took it up or down exactly 1 mph. With the Q70 it varies by as much as 4 mph and sometimes I have to hit the up button three or four times to get it to increase in speed
- there was apparently an opportunity to upgrade the TCU in 2017 and I want to know if it has been done, and if not, how much it will cost me to do it. It gives Alexa command controls to much of the car.

My cruise is rock solid on my 2011. So definitely a bug with your car.

TCU? Transmission Computer/Control Unit? Alexa commands? Whoa...

TCU = Telematics Control Unit - is part of the system if you have/had Infiniti Connection and had Infiniti Navigation installed in your vehicle. I think that Infiniti Connection has been replaced by Infiniti InTouch in newer models.

There is an upgrade required for the TCU to support the following that was announced in 2017:

Owners can use voice commands to do things like lock the doors or honk the horn.

Some Infiniti drivers will now have access to voice command support from Amazon Alexa Skills for remotely commanding their vehicles to do things like start the engine. It’s a free upgrade for subscribers to the company’s InTouch Services or Infiniti Connection telematics programs and covers vehicles from the 2018 to 2013 model years. The full list is below,:

Vehicles with Infiniti InTouch Services:

2018: Q50, Q50 Hybrid, QX60, Q70, QX80
2017: Q50, Q50 Hybrid, Q60, QX60
2016: Q50, Q50 Hybrid

Vehicles with Infiniti Connection:

2017: Q70, QX80
2016: Q70, Q70 Hybrid, QX60, QX60 Hybrid, QX80
2015: Q50, Q50 Hybrid, Q70, Q70 Hybrid, QX60, QX60 Hybrid, QX80
2014: Q50, Q70, QX60, QX80
2013: M37, M56, JX35, QX56

After downloading the necessary software from the Amazon Alexa Skills Store and linking it to their vehicle, owners can use their smartphone to perform voice commands. For example, “Alexa, ask Infiniti InTouch Services to start my Q50,” or “Alexa, ask Infiniti Connection to lock the doors of my Q60.” For security, certain commands, like remotely starting the engine, require the person to give a four-digit number to confirm the request.

Ilya - I would love to see Infiniti do something similar to what Mazda recently announced:
  • Mazda CarPlay plans took a step forward today when the company announced a retrofit option for some older models.

Mazda was named as a CarPlay partner way back in 2015, but it wasn’t until this year that it finally launched the option on new cars, starting with the Mazda6. It promised a Mazda CarPlay option for older cars at the time, and says that this is now available …

It’s available for 2014 cars or newer, and they need to have the Mazda Connect infotainment system fitted, as it is this which gets upgraded to add CarPlay support.

It’s mostly a software update to the Mazda Connect system, but you also get faster-charging 2.1-amp USB ports as part of the deal.

The good news is that the upgrade itself costs only $199 – much cheaper than most after-market options – but you do need to have the work done at a Mazda dealer and pay labor charges of around two hours.
In one of the press releases that I found, Infiniti is supposedly going to introduce a new entertainment system in the next Q70 that supports both Apple Carplay and Android. https://www.digitaltrends.com/cars/infi ... nt-system/

It would be great if they came up with a way to introduce CarPlay functionality in older cars similar to what Mazda is doing.

Check my Grom thread in a few days. Won't be cheap but may accomplish the task of getting Google maps, waze etc into the car.

As for the Alexa stuff, wow...had no idea. Cool.
