Q70 mirrors on M56x

Guys,

I was able to grab a couple of 2015 Q70 mirrors from Ebay for dirt cheap. Has anyone attempted this mod before? I'm trying to find the pinout assignments in both the 2015 Q70 and 2011 M56 service manuals but haven't found the terminal page. I'm not sure it even exists. Any help would be appreciated.

That's what I was looking for. Thanks Armybrat. Infinitimaster says it installs without modification meaning that the wiring should be the same to enable all the existing 2011 M features. The only thing I'll have to trace is the turn signals. Not really concerned with the all around cameras as there are too many components missing to make that work. I've already disassembled the mirror's back casing which I am prepping to be painted. Other than that it should be an easy install.

Just a quick update -- It's too cold old to really work on this project but I was able to replace the mirror caps with carbon fiber ones. Should look really good once they are mounted on the car. Here's a link to the picture: https://flic.kr/p/EQwxkm

Once I confirm the wiring is correct I'll mount the mirrors and take a few pics.

Thanks Andy. I haven't been putting pictures up but I've been getting stuff done on her. The amp is an Alpine PDX 1.1000 and the sub is a JL Audio 13TW5. My previous sub was an RE XXX but it added an additional 65 pounds of weight, not counting the fiberglass box. I didn't do a good job on that box and it would have taken a long time filling and sanding to make it look good, so I abandoned it and went with the JL. Amazing sub. AMAZING SOUND. It has been handling the 1000 watt amp with no problem, even though the sub is rated to about 600 watts. I get a good amount of low end at a fraction of the space and weight.

After the mirror project (and sometime this winter) I'll get the BC coilovers installed. BBK after that and then done. (hopefully)

Hey wats up guys haven’t posted for a minute but yeah if your gonna put the mirrors on there’s only 5 wires that u need to cut
Signal lights camera auto dimmer (check if your car is pre wired for the mirror dimming some models are) I tried it and they worked . I haven’t installed them because I just got my hands on an wire harnes and was trying to get the cameras to work
Carbon fiber covers look great good luck with your mod just match up all the wire colors you should be fine

You do not need to cut any wires. I plugged the mirror in and everything worked fine with the exception of the camera and turn signals.

Looks good reggiebrown40 ima work on my mirrors as soon as it gets warmer when I plugged mines in they worked fine I didn’t cut any wires I just separated them so you just left the extra wires in and plug it in as is and everything is working fine?
I changed the entire back to a q70 from a 2015 ima try to post some pics it’s a little tricky but yeah kid your car is looks good with those new mirrors

Yup, just plug in and it will work. I tested mirrors folding, heat and tilt features. All worked without any issues. No wires were cut. The plug on the '14+Q70 mirror side has more wires (about 8) than the 2011-2013 mirrors' door harness. I need to trace which wires lead to the mirror's turn signal.

No progress yet. Haven't had time to trace the wires to the BCM for the turn signals to work. That's the only thing that is left that I want working. The mirror cameras would probably need more components to work on the display.

Thanks to OP. I like the Carbon fiber covers and just ordered a set off of eBay. Obviously, the mirror needs to be removed to change them, right?

The mirrors do not have to come off. I'm assuming you have Q70 15+ mirrors. M37/M56 won't work.

Thanks - I somehow missed that. Cancelled the order and none to happy about it, it did indeed say q60/70 only.

I never tried but it can't be too hard. I have bigger fish to fry with a damaged motor that needs replacing.
