Looking around for a used 2015/2016 Q70 5.6. Seems like hardly any dealerships have any around me. The 3.7 is in abundance, but not the 5.6. Why is this?

Not true, I have the 3.7 and 5.6 for all intents they're the same. Pretty sure ones 18 and ones 19 city. Doesn't the 5.6 cost about 7k more as an option!

The actual MPG might be the same, but not everyone cares about that info...to some people V8 screms gas guzzler so they are in FAR less demand than the V6. So dealers only buy what they will sell (V6's).

Exactly. Perception and marketing. V8 is a dirty word outside performance minded circles. And even there it is becoming less of a staple. Even pickup trucks are moving to V6's. Eliminating the 56 and 37 from the name when they moved to Q70 made it even easier for dealers to sell the 3.7L as the tip-top model to luxury buyers. Most people I talk to about my car don't even know there was ever an M56 made.

And 5.6L is rated at 16/24, 3.7L at 18/26. 16mpg is enough to send people running, I average 15. :shifter:

Yep. Same here, most people don't know my car is a V8 until I tell em. And I still hate that name change lol.

Correct. Never said the V8 is extinct, but it is headed that way. If you want a V8 in a new LEXUS GS (cross shoppable to the M/Q70) you have to get the all out GS-F model. Otherwise its Turbo-4, V6, or Hybrid. Lexus makes my point for me. The GS-F is also limited production and 88K+, 16K'ish more than a loaded new Q70 5.6L.

And as Frog mentioned, and I just now learned by looking it up, the 5.6L is a 13K upgrade from the 3.7L. That will definitely hurt its new 5.6L model sales and eventually doom it.

I had to go over a1000 miles to find mine. I thought the same thing that the V8 will be widely available even harder to find in the xS trim.

Worth the time to get what you want.

My 56 gets better gas mileage than my G37xS.

Doesn't take near the throdle to go fast.

Yep....I get the same milesge my mom does out of her 2007 G35 3.5HR sedan. Only thing upsetting about that is her 2011 4.0 Pathfinder shaped like a box is only 1-2 MPG less.

I think alot of people do not even realize this car was made in a V8. People still talk crap about my Infiniti when I say it is a "fast" car. They are like how can a 330 hp V6 be fast? Thats when I tell them it is a 450+ HP V8.

There are a lot more Q70's but ALL are 3.7.

I only checked a small site no auto trader or car gurus. I love car gurus.

There are huge differences between state to state on the same car, I bought mine for way less than that but that's why you need to check book value for your area. The 56S will be a hard sell here in Utah. You need at least a X to get around here. Unless you don't drive it in the winter.

Yep I was driving a 2007 Acura MDX when I started researching Infinitis in Sept 2015. I didn't know about the V8 then. I initially wanted a G37x Sedan until I found out about the M56. No one around here in the Winston-Salem NC area had one. Ended up getting mine through the local Carmax, $30K for a '12 M56x loaded with 52k miles...just came off of a 3 year lease. Originally leased from Pepe Infiniti in NY, and was eventually turned in and ended up in Tennessee, which is where it was shipped from. There are plenty of the V8's around but you will more than likely have to travel to get one or have it shipped. As previously mentioned, Infiniti is marketing the Q50, QX30 and the QX60 models on TV, social media, etc. The other ones are pretty much available but not on the forefront of their sales. The V8 in general isn't going anywhere. Yes there is a push for turbo 4, turbo/twin turbo V6 engines but the V8 is still being used and will continue to be used in your higher end performance and luxury cars...Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Dodge, Ford, GM, Lexus, Jaguar, all of these, some with turbo/supercharged V8's. They dropped the V8 from the FX/QX70 and I don't really consider the M/Q70 a performance car; more of a luxury sedan which happens to come with a pretty potent V8 as an (expensive) upgrade...whether Infiniti keeps the 5.6 as an option in the M/Q70 remains to be seen.

The M56 is a rare beast. My Infiniti dealer told me he has only serviced 5 of the V8 version at their dealership. It is his favourite car so it gets pampered whenever it goes in. In terms of fuel mileage they are pretty good for 420HP. I had a 05 300C which had cylinder de-activation. My Infiniti has 80 more HP, is nearly 1 sec faster 0-60 and gets 20% better fuel economy.

There are a few differences, larger screen and a few others like the audio system. Plus the '13 M56xS had a retail in the $70k range. Crazy but true.

Take your time they are out there.

also remember that the Q70 comes with the L version. A regular search will exclude it as a separate model. I see 35 Ls and 25 regular Qs for sale on cargurus right now.

good luck

I've never seen another M56 except at the dealership. I've seen only three M37's in 4 yrs. Teslas are everywhere, but no M56/Q70 at all. It's a unicorn.

Really rare in Canada, with the 5.6 only available on the L model, with awd.

I feel very fortunate to have found a pretty 2015 Aspen Pearl with 40000km (25000mil) recently, after searching for 6+ months.
