Has anybody else read Car and Driver's test of the G50 hybrid? The one they tested had the technology package which just about drives the car for you. Depending on what the computer thinks, the car may go with you or fight you. Long ago, I learned that consistent, predictable behavior is critical to driving a car close to its limits. A car that changes on you is treacherous. Computer controlled 4-wheel steering was an option on early G37s. It didn't work well and Infiniti gave up on it. I remember a Mercury ad from the 1970s which said their product was aimed at people who believed the car should do most of the driving. It appears that Infiniti had the same goal for the Q50. I plan to keep my G37S coupe.

One detail that C&D only got half right is the continued availability of manual transmissions. They correctly state that the G50 is automatic only. However, they give the impression that Infiniti has given up on manual transmissions. That's not true since the 2014 coupes and convertibles still can be bought with 6-speed manuals.

I agree...these cars are not really meant for spirited driving. I've heard some bad reviews on the steer-by-wire system as well.

the tech package is optional... any person that loves driving will pass on the tech package. But i can see a market for the people who just cruise around texting... and need the car to tell them to pay attention LOL.

oh and i did have some seat time in the Q50S Hybrid just recently, it has great intital acceleration and a very very nice interior. if i was to get one though id just get the 3.7 AWD non sport with everything but tech package. (i think thats now called a Q50 AWD premium with deluxe touring package, navigation package, leather package, spare tire package LMAO)

"premium" is a Audi term... and the executive from audi has his signiture all over the Q50.

I have to agree with consumer reports based on my seat time. the G37 was a refined g35 but kept the sporty side. while the Q50 refines the g37 but loses its sporty side... Infiniti's bread and butter was the G's blend of sport and luxury, but they have opted to tip the luxury side more... it's like the q50 is the old Q. I hope the Q60 slants more to the sport side to save Infiniti's reputation of being fun cars.

Yeah, while I like the look of a dropped Q50 I don't see it being the wifes next car. I also don't plan on a G/Q as a replacement for my coupe either.

Don't forget about Nissan's use of CVT transmissions...prevented me from buying a JX/Muriano.

I don't have any regrets with getting the SRT8.
