Hi. It's been a long while since visiting and posting here, but I've got a question. For all of you 2000s (2004 specifically) Q50 platform owners, are there any negatives in going with a 245/70/16 tire vs the OE spec 255/65/16 ? Rubbing? Handling? Noise? Overall driveability?

Moving down a size the tire options open up tremendously, not to mention the the same tire, e.g. Michelin LTX MS2, drops in price by 10-15%.

Using various tire calculators, the 245/70 has a .3" taller sidewall, a 1.4" larger circumference, 10 less revs per mile (684 vs 694), all culminating to a 1.6% difference overall.

I'm not sure how man yother vehicles use the 255/65/16 tire, but it isn't many and it may be relatively exclusive to this range of Nissan/Inifiniti vehicles, but I can't be 100% certain on that.

I searched and couldn't fine too much on the 245/70/16. Oh, the truck also sees 99% highway/surface street use, but it can find a dirt path when it needs to.

TIA

It'd be a negligible change (29.1" vs 29.5", assuming calculated diameter...actual diameter actually varies and is usually less than calculated). Just be sure to observe any load or speed ratings for the tire.

I purchased my 02' in 05' and it came with 245/70 Generals installed. They lasted around 70-75k miles or 4.5 years since i mostly did highway driving as well. The tires performed fine with no rubbing or anything and rolled very smooth on the highway. Hope that helps. I'm currently running a 245/55/18 now on mine but i sized it up to my 245/70s and they are about same height and diameter respectively. Hope this helps.
