Q45Tech - Color marks on injectors?

What do these signify?

I have 3 bad injectors - 1,2 & 8 and I would like to know...

To create a perfect idle brand new I'm sure they matched low flow of injectors at 12% duty cycle. Worn enigines will have different cylinder compression so it may not matter much now?

since we're on the topic. For a 94 Q45, which injectors can be changes w/out pulling the plenum?

Can and should are two different things!!!!!

I would never change an injector without pulling plenum and placing fuel rails on the work bench. As I like to change fuel and coolant hoses frequently to avoid leaks and smells and generally examine everything closely. Phusically examine KS housings for the start of cracks and connectors for corrosion.

Each to his own. Doing a quick, sloppy fast repair has a way of coming back to bite you.

Most who follow the short cut (parts or labor) technicque without following it up properly are ex-owners by now and have gone on to ruin other cars by now.

Also, I think some people have alot..................... of time on their hand. All I did for GOD'S SAKE is ask a simply question. I never said I'd follow the short path or not, plus even if so. Everyone is different, everyone's life is different. Some people are single and have all the time on their had. Other have a wife and kids.

Of course it's ideal to pull the plenum to replace injectors... I was just saying that it "can be done" without doing so. I suspect the biggest risk is hydrolocking the engine if the lower o-ring is pinched, or the rails aren't properly depressurized prior to removing the old ones. Having the rails out allows one to pressurize the rails to look for leaks before putting them back in the runners.

I agree. Since this'll be me first plenum removal, I wouldn't take the short cut path. Also, because I need to change both KSs. This is something I've putting off, just anxous about the whole plenum removal thing. Since its our only car, I gotta have all parts/hoses etc.. available on hand before I dig in there. I'm a pretty saavy mechanically (done my own struts, belts, brakes, cleaned MAF, Throttle body, EGR, IAC, etc...) and with the few saved plenum removal threats in my favorites, I should be okay. If everything on hand and availabe, do you guys think it can be done (both knock sensor and 2 dead injectors) lets say in 5-6 hours on an average pace???

Rent a car and take your time! I am planning on having mine down for a week working several hours a day... not to say it couldn't be done faster, but I want to allow lots of time for cleaning and nitpicking everything. I would think doing a good job your first time should take no less than two days. Not to mention you will always find something else that you didn't anticipate that needs to be replaced while you're at it.
