I noticed on a wrecked 1994 Q45a that under the driver's front fender is a little cooler with an electric fan attached. I was thinking that this would be an awesome atf cooler! It has all the mounting brackets, an electric fan, and a small cooler. Do any of you guys with experience with oil coolers on Qs or this Q45a cooler have any insight?

Thanks ahead of time.

Would make for an ideal transmission fluid cooler- as the extra heat is not dumped into radiator, and the fan allows greater efficiency at idle when airflow is minimal at rest in the fenderwell- GRAB IT

i would think you might want something a little heartier for an oil cooler.. oil runs at pretty high pressure, not sure how it compares to a transmission cooler or similarly the active suspension but i bet its less (on the active/transmission)...

How quickly could motor oil flow through it, without creating much backpressure?

Is it more restrictive than an off-the-shelf engine oil cooler?

If so, it might do more harm than good - particularly when the oil is cold and thick.

I need the "multivalve" that goes right after/next to the cooler you described, towards the wheel well. Is this still available on the car you saw?

fan is switched by: temp sensor in active reservoir, active ECU comparitor, ubiquitous -89981 relay.

I meant ATF cooler, not oil.

How should I wire up the fan? Any suggestions?
