Hello Everyone,Jman here. I haven't posted in a long time, but here I am with a question. First some info. My 94 Q45a with 100K miles is getting the 2 front and 2 back actuators installed by Infiniti. My complaint was the typical "It rides like a log wagon". The dealer had to be pushed by me to "find" the problem. Warranty Gold has already given Infiniti an authorization number for the work to be done. Now to the questions. Is this going to completely solve the ride problem? Are there other parts that likely need replacing? I thought I remembered Texasoil calling the parts accumulators not actuators. Is the dealer replacing the correct parts? All help is appreciated.

Thanks,Jman

Hey getting new actuators under warranty is GREAT. Those cost about $800 each!!, plus 2 hours of shop labor per to remove and reinstall. They include new accumulators. This is a $5500 bill!

Be sure and have them replace all the rubber parts at the same time--even if you have to pay for the parts. The vast bulk of the labor is already in the job.Only extra is unbolting the 4 strut mounts from the car and rebolting the new ones (30 min maybe)

Ask you dealer to send me the old parts (I'llpay shipping) or if you can get the parts, I'll work something out with you. Drop me a line of forum.

Great Luck and Bless that warranty.

You mush have the dealer run the complete (long version) of the CONSULT test program for th eactive suspension.

It takes at least 45 min to run it. It moves everything up/down, sideways , etc and will find flat main accumulators as well as the flat strut ones. This can turn into a $10K rebuild if you can push it hard. Runing the CONSULT test program will find any weak parts.

Texasoil and others,

I had already planned to ask for the old parts. I'll get in touch with you later about it. The dealer first quoted me prices of $1435 each for the fronts and $1200 each for the rears. I then asked him if this was the actual retail price or if it was higher than retail. I explained to him of my previous experience of parts at his shop being marked up 25% above retail. He called me back shortly after that and the prices dropped to $1200 each for front and $1000 each for rear. Anyway, specifically what rubber parts are you talking about replacing and what would the parts cost likely be? If you or anyone else happens to have part numbers that would be a big help. How many other accumulators are there besides the ones on the actuators? What are they called? The service manager determined that my car needed the actuators by getting the car up to operating temperature and with the vehicle running doing the “bounce test” at each corner. It did get hooked up to the consult, but I’ll have to ask if the long version was performed. The service manager that I’m dealing with doesn’t seem to care too much for the “help” he is getting from me. I’ve shown him stuff I printed out from here and he kind of just ignores it. If I had not insisted that something was wrong with my car, he would have sent me out the door and done nothing. I really don’t get it. You would think they would look for and welcome a repair like this, especially with the knowledge that the car owner is not the one paying the bill. I bought the car from this dealer 2 years ago and they have probably done $3K to $4K worth of repairs under this warranty. I have complained about the harsh ride and the knocking noise on the left side of the car when going over bumps several times the car has gone in the shop for other stuff. They just always say that everything was normal. Sorry for all the questions and the long post, but any help is appreciated.

Thanks,Jman
