Hi all.New to the forum and a proud owner of a 1991 Q45a, which I recently saved from going to the junk yard. Everything is running fine except for the actsus light which stays on. Does anyone know of a quick fix? I believe the actsus required a check because at times I can feel bumps when going over them, but nothing too weird. Is there a shop out here in SoCal "LA area" that may be able to inspect the system? Please advise. Thanks

Best bet is

Even of the few Infiniti Senior tehcnicians still practicing, few deal with active suspensions very often, so you can't take it any where.

Do a search on texasoil in archived posts and read everything he has posted.

"I believe the actsus required a check"

Any active saved from junkyard will need $4,000 PLUS the normal $3,000 in basic model rehabilitation.

All the accumulators have low nitrogen [leaks out every 60-100k or 7 years].

Dealer price are roughly $1,000 each [plus labor] and you will need at least 4 and probably 9.

Restoring to perfectly brand new performance requires a seriously BIG CHECK

Convert it to a standard suspension and spend only a fraction of that $$$$ and eliminate a source of future headaches.....there are already plenty to worry about with a standard old Q that hasnt been aggressively maintained since brand new.

The problem with performing a true conversion from active to standard without a leaving a lot of dead weight on the car is it costs as much or more than repairing the active, although on the long run the standard will be cheaper to maintain.

As I have said once before, there are two kinds of active owners. Ones who restore them to as new and prefer never to drive a standard, and (usually) those that do partial conversion to standard and end up with a slower less well performing standard G50.

There is a 3rd: type those that do nothing but change to 20" wheels and drive the buckboard.................we see them in the impound lots frequently when they are abandoned and towed .

My guess is this is probobly what happens to the MAJORITY of all 90-96 old q45 that have traded handswithin the last few years.....their low market value has turned them into transporttion of students/pizza delivery/ poor people who get fooled by the shiny paint and have no idea the cash outlay to maintain/restore to proper operating condition.

Not too many upwardly mobile college educated individuals{original demographcs} shop for $1-4K, 12-18 year old luxury cars......doesnt fit the image or neighborhood

go to my webstore site 'activesuspensionsystems.com' and read all about it. Then run the self diagnostics. Vast majority of causes are minor and easily fixed. The system is basically EXTREMELY reliable. In 18 vehicle years of owning two (92,94) still have both, recharged accumulators and NEVER an active system fault NONE.

A set of all 9 rechanged accumulators is $1400.

You've dropped your prices a little. How much is typical 2 way freight now plus credit card deposit.

Be sure to point out this does not fix active shocks that leak fluid which are the $1000 or a junkyard used unit.

So $1600 plus $1,000 labor and say one leaker is $3600 +- plus enough credit card depth to handle the refundable deposit.

I just purchased a 92 Q45a with the same problem, found the right rear strut/shock leaking. Refilled the suspension tank, (Fruid A-actve # E2901-62U01 only, call Leon @ Scottsdale) the light went out car raises & lowers and I managed to purchase all 4 strut/shocks in great shape for $275with good rubber and still full of the correct fluid .Good luck on your project I am having the transmission rebuilt first before I start on my suspension recharging and replacing worn parts.

The Nissan Jatco reman factory is in Tennessee. No independent can rebuild in totality with a new TC and valve body for the wholesale cost from a dealer.

Very few rebuilders in US have a transmission dyno to test their work whereas every one is tested before leaving factory.
