Q45 won't rev over 3000 RPM

93 Q45 won't rev at over 3000 RPM. It just stops at exactly 3000 RPM and the egine slightly oscilates. It doesn't matter if the car is in gear, in park or in neutral. It's as if there's a limiter on it or something. Does anyone know what's causing this? I was able to fix it one time by turning the engine off and restarting it. But now, it's doing it all the time. Any thoughts?

Check Fuel Pump, Fuel Pump Control Unit, fuel filter and Crank Angle Sensor.

Any Check Engine Light codes?

Yeah its either a MAF or CAS like Paul said.. you're going to need to check the ECU codes, because if its in fail safe its surely throwing a code which will help speed up the diagnosis...

I'm having problems loacting the ECU. Does anyone know what a "kick panel" is? I've removed the black plastic piece under the glove box and the lower panel to he right of it. Behind that panel is a metal box with a bunch of wires going to it. Is this it?

Nevermind. I had to remove the screws holding in the ECU to get to the stupid diagnostic screw on the side (which is totally inaccessable until you remove it :-) )

Codes are:

11 - Crank Angle Sensor
53 - Exhaust Gas Sensor (LH)
34 - Knock Sensor

Looks like it's the crank angle sensor causing the issue

Does anyone know where it is? I tried doing a search and looked in the technical documents but didn't see anything.

Thanks Paul, I removed the connector, cleaned it and the pins, put it back on and all is well. Rev problem fixed. :-)
