Hi all, austinQgirl here...again...(1995, Q45, original 82K miles)

The window regulator worked out just great...and now I need some help with my cooling fan...the big white plastic one in front.

While having my oil changed yesterday, I asked my mechanic to check over everything so I could be sure it is ready for inspection next month.
...And surprise....he found several cracks in my fan and I am afraid to drive my car.(yet still must go to work...blah blah blah...)

The dealership here in Austin quoted me $122.00 for the fan blade.....They gave me the part number as #21060-6p000...or 21060-6p00A...(the new updated number, I am told)...

I went to infinitipartsusa again.....
When I put those #'s in the search blank, nothing came up.
When I searched "cooling fan", again, nothing.
When I looked for it just under 'parts' /cooling system there was a hugh variety (assembly, shroud, etc). Then I looked for 'fan blade'...it came up with a price of $108.84...discounted to $81.64, plus shipping...(but again, from looking at the illustration....do I need all that other stuff? It only appears that the plastic fan needs replacing).

According to the illustration, it would be the part that is labeled #8....(That's $122.00??? or even $84???...really??!!??)
Is that whole thing what I need?
Just my plastic part is cracked...
Do I need all that other stuff?
Does it all come together, anyway?
Does it have to? It seems all I need is just the white plastic fan blade part.
Do I even want to consider a used one? (That scares me, sort of...You know...reliability, and being sure I get the right thing the first time, and who knows if I could even find one here, etc...).

I need the best and cheapest solution possible.
I am such a girl.... and am so confused.

The mechanic said he thought it should cost around $30. That sounds like an amount I could live with... because I still have to get it on the car!!!

I will still need a new tire or two, a front end alignment and a battery cable connector. And I am running out of money faster that I can get the parts on my car!

I so appreciated your help before... would you all please help guide me once again?? I am really at a loss.

Thank you
austinQgirl

Just about everyone around here has at least a few small cracks in their fan blade - It's VERY common on Q45's. Most of us don't worry much about it.

I would suggest just keeping an eye on them - If they appear to be getting bigger, or if it looks like pieces of the blade are fixin' to break off, THEN you can worry about replacing the fan.

The part you need is labeled "8" in the illustration. The one that's $81.64. There's no "other stuff" with that, just the blade assembly that bolts onto the fan clutch.

I've ignored the cracks in my fan since I bought the car over 2 years ago.

Take a sharpie and mark some of the cracks at their terminus. In this way you can keep an eye on them to see if they're growing. Mine are not.

Or, bite the bullet and spend the $$ to replace it.

Considering that the air is flowing aft past the fan, and centrifugal force, I cannot see how that thing losing a blade will puncture your radiator as has been suggested previously. But that's just my twisted mindset.
