Hey guys, this q45 is about to drive me nuts. This project started as a timing chain guide problem, that turned into an engine swap.I put a 1996 engine in a 1992 q45,without realising the wiring differences.I will try to make a long story short,I have all of the wiring converted to work, the engine spins over fine,I have fuel pressure, the injectors are firing and I am getting strong spark. However it will not start. Now the only piece of wiring that is not adapted is the subcas wiring.I researched the subcas and saw that the general opinion was that after the car was running it really was not used, however I am starting to wonder if it could keep me from starting.I checked with a timing light while cranking and the spark seemed to be very errattic ..The old cas with two plugs will physically not fit on the newer head.Has anyone performed this swap or know what I should do with the subcas plug?I love this car but it has not ran in over a year any help is greatly appreciated.

The Q cranks on the subcrank signal then shifts to primary CAS at like ~400 rpm when it drops batch mode injection.............you will need to create a harness adapter and get the sub CAS signal to ecu.

Did you swap the ignitor and harness from the 92 to 96 engine?

What a nightmare to get it functioning.

Thanks for your reply,I agree I need to get a subcas signal to the ecu,but the 96 cas does not have a subcas it only has the 4 pin connector.I am hoping I can tap in to the cas and give the sub cas harness a signal, but I am not sure how to wire it in.Yes I used the original ignitors and coil packs and yes this has been a nightmare.Do you know how I should wire up the subcas harness?

Man, converting OBD II to OBD I must be a bear.

No old heads available to R&R?

O.K. I split the 90 degree signal from the main cas output to the subcas harness that also needs a 90 degree signal and grounded the other pin.Still sounded the same and would not start.I have already tried to start the car with the 96 ignition system(except for cas)installed and had the same results.I wonder what else could keep me from starting,of course ignition timing but I am turning the cas while I am trying to start the car,so I feel it should at least try to start.Any ideas?
