Q45 Wheel Question.

Has anyone tried to install 2003 Q45 wheels (18x7.5) on a 1993 Q45?

I'm trying to see if they fit. are there any rubbing?i think the stock 1993 Q45 wheels are (15x6)

if anyone has experience in this i would appreciate the input.

There is someone here that has the 18s on a Q. I dont know who, but someone will chime in. It does work, and fits fine...

They will fit and are very near the stock diameter (if you keep the factory '03 tires).

Stock is 15" x6.5".

So you are gaining mostly metal weight and less load carrying capacity than a comparable wheel in 15", 16" or 17" diameter, especially if said wheel has an 8" or 8.5" rim (allowing for larger tires).

Does anyone know if they'll also work on a '97 touring? I've been contemplating acquiring a set & also using the same tire size as the '03 Q. I believe they're 245/45/18's.

I just bought those rims from Apex45 for my 95 Q45t. So I use 245/45/18 or 245/40/18. Tirerack suggest 40's, but I think it should by 45's. Can someone verify this for me?....Thanks

No need - Just go with the tire that has the higher load rating. Should be 96 or above for the Q.

Should stay with the 40series tire, they closer match the stock tire diameter when you go plus 1, 2 or 3 sizes.

I have discovered the 40 series would result in a 25. 71 overall diameter, or about .28 inches less than stock. This would be good, except the load rating of that size tire is not very high. 45 series tire overall diameter is 26.68, or .68 more than stock. This size tire provides sufficient amount of load rating. It sounds like I may have higher risk of tire failure and rim damage with the 40 series, but just not completely sure.

245/40-18 will not give you enough load capacity. 245/45-18 will, although at a larger rolling diameter.

Perfect is a 255/40-18, but 8" is the minimum rim width, with 9" being preferred.

A good accident investigator [witness] can always prove it was your fault when you run tires that don't meet oem specs. You maintained your car in a negligent and unsafe manner! They will check your brake pads also and read your ABS computer for your speed prior to deloyment.

Why you should always at least match the load limit and speed rating if possible. One less thing in life to worry about.

People assume that because they don't speed they don't need V,Z rated tires what they don't understand is that the speed rating is a durability rating also.

V,Z tires out stop S, T tires by a wide margin in dry and wet due to internal rigidity and tread design.

So true - This should be required reading for anyone prior to walking into a tire store.

Tire sellers should be held equally liable - They'll sell anything to anyone.

Why a dumba$$ kid can walk into a store and buy cheap 185/70/13's with whitewalls for his '84 Caprice BUT he can't buy a Glock without a waiting period is beyond me.

:ylsuper I just bought dunlop sport 9000 245/45/18 for the 03 Q rims. I think they should do the job.
