Can anyone on here personally comment on the ride quality of the F50 with 20" FX wheels? I remember reading a comment someone made that the weight of the FX wheels made the F50 handle somewhat poor hand caused a lot of understeer.

Over all how is the ride quality of the F50 with 35 series tires on 20" wheels too?

One of the current car magazines{Dec 08} has a comparison test of several SUV's,they bashed the FX50 for its overstiff suspension and poor ride quality, but loved the powerful engine.....they rated the Ex35 better, calling it a more well rounded package overall, but small interior and limited cargo room.

I would think you would need to live where the roads are perfect{no frost heaves and potholes} to be able to get away with 20 inch wheels/tires on a G50 without totally destroying the ride quality.

Here in Md, the roads are not good enough to warrant me dumping the stock 15 inch wheels....the Q with standard wheels/suspension already is borderline rough when traversing poor pavement in my book.

While I haven't research the weight of the 20" FX wheels, I would imagine that these wheels are pretty heavy mofos. However, the wheels look timeless on a F50 (Q45) though.

I just need to get replace the OE 17" wheels on my Q45...they look tacky!

If you are set on 20" and have an excellent tire chosen that will work, the I would go for forged wheels.

Doubtless though that 18">19">20" in terms of performance.

I know you can get a very good 100XL load rated tire in 18".

The real problem is the tire side wall stiffness which is a function of the number of inches between the road and wheel.

Shocks and springs are matched to oem wheel and tire weight.

Worrying about what others think [especially in wheels] will leave you sad and disappointed in your old age.

I was more so concerned about how the Q45 (F50) typically drives and handles with upsized wheels 20" FX wheels.

You got your answer...anytime you lower the tire aspect ratio you increase harshness vibration. Overall ride quality {especially on rough roads, potholes, manhole covers, etc} decreases ON ANY VEHICLE....the laws of physics dont change from car to car- whether you find the ride acceptable tradeoff for looks, no one can answer for you-you must try for yourself.

I will say that anytime you increase the stiffness, you put lots of extra stress and accelerate wear of every suspension component AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENT in the vehicle.....MAF, ECU,TCU, every computer and gizmo with a printed circuit board, every one of thousands of solder joints all take a beating mile after mile and reduces its lifespan.Interior trim loosens up and rattles quicker,on and on..........

Then I would buy them and install them and report back.

Seems no one else on this site has seen the wisdom in doing that.

I realize all that mofo...I was looking for responses from doodes that HAVE 20" FX wheels on thier F50 to get a better idea of how these particular wheels run and feel on the Q45.

The reason you wont find many f50 owners running 20-22-24 inch wheels is simple, genius.......the car is still new enough to hold some value and therefor in the hands of mostly older, educated, wiser owners........wait a few years til the street value drops and the uneducated, inexperienced, innercity youth can afford it and you will see plenty with cartoon wheels-guess you are just ahead of this curve a little?

Gee, you'd think Seldomseen would be bright enough to go ask these knowledgeable mofos about the large round anchors they are running? I hope he is sure to adress them as "Mofo" when he does!

Oh well.
