Never had a problem with the trunk opening until the Sunday that the car died and wouldn't start, I know the 2 things aren't related but, Anyway the electrical part of the trunk opener is working fine, I can see the little lever move when I push the open trunk button on the remote, The button in the glove box is set so the trunk will open with the release button. It just seems like the trunk lid all of a sudden is too heavy to pop up like it used too, can the "spring" that holds the lid up be adjusted?? any other ideas to check? thanks

If you pull up on the trunk while the actuator is opened will it open, or do you have to use the key? If so try lubricating the trunk gasket with some silicone spray or lexol... sometime they get dry and start to stick.

The other possibility is that the "flap" that springs over when you press the remote button is slightly bent... you may need to bend it over toward the middle of the car a little more.

no, it will only open with the key, instead of lubricating the gasket how about waxing the underside of the trunk lid where the rubber meets up to?

The little flap looks ok, I tried re-positioning the latch and noticed someone has washers on the 2 bolts that look smaller than the marks in the paint and the 2 holes look like they were made bigger for whatever reason.
